Abstract
Experience with 250 cases of hypospadias over the 6-year period 1986–1992 at the Athen's Childrens Hospital Aghia Sophia is presented. A successful outcome was seen in 87%, 13% developed complications, most of which were urethral fistulae. The operative techniques and methods of treating the fistulae are described. Patients received treatment in the preschool age group in one or two stages, depending on the method used and the presence or absence of chordee. The goals of the urethroplastic operation, penile straightening and the formation of a new urethra to permit normal urination with a wide range, were accomplished in the majority of cases.
