Summary

In the downs of the owlsAthene noctua andStrix aluco coproporphyrin III as well traces of 3- and 2- carboxyl porphyrins were demonstrated by means of paper chromatography.

In the downs of the bustardOtis tarda coproporphyrin III was demonstrated together with traces of 3 and 2 carboxyl porphyrin. Coproporphyrin III copper complex was prepared in crystalline condition fromOtis tarda downs.

The methods — preparation, identification, chromatography, analysis — are described in detail.
