Zusammenfassung
-
1.
Summary
-
1.
To our ears, and on the sound-spectrograms, the songs ofParus ater andParus melanolophus are indistinguishable. Correspondingly, Coal Tits in southern Germany react to the playback of songs ofP. melanopholus exactly, or almost exactly, as they do to the song of their own species.
-
2.
For us, the difference between the songs ofParus melanolophus / ater and ofParus major decolorans is slight. However, Coal Tits in Southern Germany are able to distinguish between our Coal Tit songs and those ofdecolorans as clearly characteristic of each species.
-
3.
The songs of the European Great Tits and those of S. E. Asia are very different. When songs of Afghanistan Great Tits are played back to our Great Tits, the latter behave in the same way as to the song of a different species.
