Abstract
The exact excitation spectrum of theXY-model with a magnetic field inz-direction is considered in detail. If the exchange is exceeding the influence of the magnetic field, single fermion excitations are forbidden and at least two fermions have to be excited. The excitation spectrum is then continuous.
