Conclusions
-
1.
The given explanations of the indices characterizing the use scheme of cooling ponds reflect their physical significance and make it possible to overcome alternative versions occurring in the literature on this matter.
-
2.
The indices characterizing the use scheme are not constants but vary mainly as a function of the heat-exchange parameter and dilution factor of the stream of the circulating discharge.
-
3.
The values of the indices of the use scheme according to the data of measurements in the prototype differ from those established from the results of laboratory experiments, mainly due to a difference in the dilution factors and different values of the heat-exchange parameter caused by distortion of the model scale and boosting the discharge and temperature of the water at the inlet.
-
4.
The published values of the indices of the use scheme can be used only for those conditions under which they were established. When extending these values to other conditions, it is necessary to be guided by the dependences given above in the article with consideration of the character of the change in the dilution factor of the stream of the circulating discharge.
