Abstract
An automatic vacuum apparatus was used in experiments to determine the degree of decomposition from the pressure of the gases formed. It was shown that the decomposition of all three compounds was accelerated by an electric field. A magnetic field also accelerated the decomposition of BaN6 but retarded the decomposition of Ag2C2O4 and had no effect on the decomposition of AgN3. Possible reasons for the effect of electric and magnetic fields on the thermolysis of solids are discussed.
