Disseminated actinomycosis caused by actinomyces meyeri

Summary

We describe a 35-year-old man with disseminated actinomycosis due toActinomyces meyeri and treated successfully with penicillin. To our knowledge this is the first case report of a generalized infection due to this species, involving lung, intra- and retroperitoneal organs.

Wir berichten über einen 35 Jahre alten Mann, der an einer disseminierten Aktinomykose durchActinomyces meyeri erkrankte und erfolgreich mit Penicillin behandelt wurde. Unseres Wissens ist dies die erste Mitteilung über eine generalisierte Infektion durch diese Spezies mit Befall der Lungen und der intra-und retroperitonealen Organe.
