Summary

In the three volumes on birds of the manuscript “Thesaurus Picturarum” (completed in 1608) byMarkus zum Lamm, a picture and description is given of a “strange bird” occurring for the first time in 1580 near Heidelberg. It is tentatively identified as Passenger Pigeon (Ectopistes migratorius).
