Ist ein Bestimmungsschlüssel eine Hilfe beim Erlernen einheimischer Vogelstimmen?

Zusammenfassung

Informationen zum Wert eines Vogelstimmen-Bestimmungsschlüssels wurden bei Untersuchungen mit Tonbandbeispielen und beim Einsatz während Vogelstimmenexkursionen gesammelt. Der verwendete Bestimmungsschlüssel war besonders für bereits angeleitete, interessierte Anfänger ein brauchbares Hilfsmittel bei der Bestimmung typischer einheimischer Vogelarten anhand charakteristischer Lautäußerungen. Die Ergebnisse bieten auch Anregungen, diesen Bestimmungsschlüssel und seinen Einsatz weiter zu verbessern.

Summary

Some data and information about the usefulness of a special key for characteristic calls and songs of common wild birds were collected by means of tape recordings and during excursions. Ten bird vocalizations had to be identified by students before and after an introduction to using the key. For evaluation in the second test only half of the students were provided with the key, the other had to use a corresponding alphabetical list. Both groups of beginners show significant improvement but no difference on an average (Tab. 2 and 3). However, there are differences in the number of identifications of some of these ten birds and also in the ability to classify these bird vocalizations (Tab. 4). Obviously this key can be of value, especially for interested beginners who have been shown how to use it. The results also offer some suggestions for improvement of use and contents of this key.
