Aufenthaltsdauer und Körpergewichtsverlauf von auf dem Herbstzug in Helgoland rastenden Sing-, Rotdrosseln und Amseln

Zusammenfassung

Im Herbst 1971 und 1973 wurden auf Helgoland an 733 beringten und dort in der gleichen Zugperiode wiedergefangenen Sing-, Rotdrosseln und Amseln Aufenthaltsdauer und Körpergewicht untersucht. Dauer der Rast, Gewichtsverlauf und das Auftreten von Todesfällen waren von Jahr zu Jahr verschieden. Wiederfänge mit relativ höherem Fanggewicht nahmen meist während der Rast ab, die mit niedrigem meist zu. Todeskandidaten zeigten schon bei Ankunft ein im Mittel geringeres Körpergewicht als die übrigen Durchzügler. Bei allen Vögeln trat ein anfänglicher Gewichtsverlust ein, der bis zu sechs Tage andauerte; dies wird mit der speziellen Inselsituation von Helgoland als Rastbiotop in Zusammenhang gebracht. Am besten scheint die Amsel angepaßt, am schlechtesten die Rotdrossel, die Singdrossel nimmt eine Zwischenstellung ein.

Summary

On the isle of Heligoland, songthrushes (Turdus philomelos), redwings (Turdus iliacus) and blackbirds (Turdus merula) were captured during the autumn migrations of 1971 and 1973. Resting period, body weights and the number of the dead were different in the two years. The development of body weight showed the same tendency in all three species: Generally, heavy individuals tended to lose body weight, whereas lighter ones mostly became heavier. Those individuals later found dead showed initial weights already lower than the other migrants of the same species. The fact that all birds appeared to lose weight the very first days after their arrival indicates that the specific situation of Heligoland may cause food problems for resting thrushes. The blackbirds seem to be able to cope with this situation best of the three species, they showed the fastest weight recovery and the smallest number of losses. The slowest recovery rate and the greatest losses occured in redwings, while song-thrushes took an intermediate position.
