Abstract
The present population of Golden Eagles in Germany consists of 48–50 territorial pairs in the Alps (10 % of them with homeranges extending beyond the border to Austria) and a considerable amount of nonterritorial individuals (mostly immat.). As the production is very low (0.25 resp. 0.18 fledglings/pair x year) nonterritorial birds form an important breeding reserve. At least within last decades, the abundance seemed to be fairly constant. At present, the German population depends on immigration from other parts of the alpine population.
