Zusammenfassung
1986 und 1987 wurde im landwirtschaftlichen Kulturland zwischen Neuf-Brisach und Mulhouse (Frankreich) auf 110 km2 eine Analyse der Habitatwahl des Triels anhand 14 ausgewählter Parameter durchgeführt. Mit Hilfe einer Zufallspunkte-Methodik konnten die Daten von 31 Neststandorten mit der natürlichen Verteilung dieser Parameter verglichen werden. Dabei ließen sich folgende Präferenzen der Art bei der Wahl ihres Brutplatzes erkennen: Eine vegetationsarme Bodenoberfläche mit Wuchshöhen bei Brutbeginn von max. 5 cm (April) bis max. 30 cm (Ende Juni); ein skelettreiches, trockenes Substrat; Bedeckung mit Steinen von mindestens 30 %; Entfernungen zu Feldwegen von mehr als 100 m; in dem Zusammenhang eine Präferenz für die Mitte eine Feldes; Entfernungen zu Waldrändern von mehr als 600 m; Rufkontakt-Nähe (um 450 m) zu benachbarten Artgenossen; markante Objekte (Steine, Wurzeln o. ä.) in Nestnähe.
Summary
In 1986 and 1987 habitat selection of the Stone Curlew was analysed in the agricultural region between Neuf-Brisach and Mulhouse (Alsace, France) within an area of 110 km2. Fourteen different factors were investigated. By using the random-points method ofMarcum &Loftsgaarden (1980) the data of 31 nest sites could be compared with the natural distribution of those factors. The following preferences of the species' choice of nest site were found: ground without or with little vegetation; vegetation height of 5 cm (April) up to 30 cm (end of June) at most; dry soil with stones covering at least 30 % of the surface; distances to field-paths of more than 100 m; connected with a preference for central location; distances to wood of more than 600 m; proximity to each other of about 450 m allowing vocal contact; marked objects (stones, roots, etc.) close to the nest site.
