Erfahrungen mit Cefoxitin-Natrium bei internistischen Patienten

Zusammenfassung

Bei 12 Patienten unseres stationären Krankengutes wurde Cefoxitin-Natrium als Prüfsubstanz eingesetzt. Dabei zeigte es in zehn Fällen (Escherichia coli, 6;Proteus rettgeri, 1;Proteus mirabilis, 2;Staphylococcus aureus, 1) gute antimikrobielle Wirksamkeit und führte zu vollständiger klinischer Heilung. Bei zwei Patienten (S. aureus beim ersten Patienten, der andere Erreger unbekannt) mußte es wegen Unwirksamkeit bzw. ausgeprägter Nebenwirkungen abgesetzt werden. Letztere wurden insgesamt fünfmal beobachtet und führten in zwei Fällen zu ausgeprägten Beschwerden.

Summary

Cefoxitin sodium was tested in 12 hospitalized patients. Good antimicrobial activity was seen in ten patients (6 withEscherichia coli, 1 withProteus rettgeri, 2 withProteus mirabilis, 1 withStaphylococcus aureus) resulting in a complete clinical cure. In two patients (one withS. aureus, pathogen unknown in the other) treatment had to be stopped due to ineffectiveness or marked side-effects. The latter were observed in five patients, causing severe symptoms in two cases.
