Summary
A good therapeutic result was obtained with the antibiotic cefotaxime in patients with low resistance to infection due to granulocytopenia in conjunction with malignant hemoblastosis or bone marrow insufficiency. The infection was cured in eight of 17 patients, and improvement obtained in three patients. A relapse occurred in two patients, and one patient with total agranulocytosis responded to neither cefotaxime nor other antibiotics. Therapy had to be stopped in one patient on account of exanthema. Two patients died during therapy as a result of the underlying disease.
