Summary

  1. 1.

A Turkish family with hereditary elliptocytosis has been presented. Four out of nine family members had hereditary elliptocytosis. Among these individuals two were the asymptomatic hereditary elliptocytosis, one case of hereditary elliptocytosis with compensated haemolysis and one case of hereditary elliptocytosis with haemolytic anaemia. The interesting finding of this patient with haemolytic anaemia was the occurence of spherocytes in her blood smear.

  2. 2.

The interesting feature of this family with hereditary elliptocytosis was the great variablity of the symptomes in the affected family members. The possible explanations for this observation are discussed.

Zusammenfassung

  1. 1.
