Description of low-lying states in odd-odd deformed nuclei taking account of the coupling with core rotations and vibrations I. Theory

Abstract

A microscopic approach in the description of low-lying states in deformed odd-odd nuclei is formulated as a generalization of the quasiparticle-phonon model (QPM) including the rotational degrees of freedom and the n-p interaction between external nucleons. In comparison with other models, the approach proposed includes all the three most important ingredients (the coupling with rotational and vibrational degrees of freedom of doubly-even core and the n-p interaction mentioned above) and treats them on the same microscopic footing.
