Abstract
The spectral dependence of the Faraday rotation in epitaxial (YSmLuCa)3(FeGe)5O12 garnet films was investigated in the near infrared spectral region where the 4 f→4 f transitions in Sm3+ ions are situated. The spectra were measured at room temperature for Sm concentrations xSm=0·3, 0·45, and 0·6. A method of estimation of Sm content on the basis of the Faraday rotation spectra is proposed.
