Abstract

The basic ideas of nonlinear realizations of extended supersymmetries are reviewed, with central charges describing spontaneously broken internal symmetry generators. The class of string-like supersymmetricσ-models is described and new nonlinear realizations of OSp(2N; 4) are considered. The application to preon physics and the relation to different formulations of supergravity are mentioned.
