A finite-energySU(3) solution which does not satisfy the Bogomolny equations

Abstract

We choose anSU(3) ansatz which corresponds to the 't Hooft-Polyakov ansatz; however, it involves a 5-plet of anSU(2) subalgebra instead of the 3-plet and only admits the trivial solution to the Bogomolny equations. It is proved that within this ansatz a non-trivial static spherically symmetric finite-energy solution with magnetic quantum numbers (0, 2) exists.
