The effect of rotating the elements of a quadrupole doublet on its optical properties

Abstract

The transfer matrix of a pair of quadrupole lenses, each arbitrarily rotated around the optical axis, is presented in the thin lens approximation. As an illustration the imaging of an abscissa is discussed.
