Transformation of the perturbation equations for the analysis of magnetohydrodynamic couette flow stability

Summary

The eigenvalue problem of the MHD stability analysis for nondissipative Couette flow between coaxially rotating cylinders in the presence of a uniform axial magnetic field, is transformed to one for the modified Mathieu equation with complex parameter and variable.

Zusammenfassung

Das Eigenwertproblem der MHD Stabilitätsanalyse für eine nichtdissipative Couette-Strömung zwischen koaxialen rotierenden Zylindern in Anwesenheit eines axialen Magnetfeldes wird in ein Eigenwertproblem für die modifizierte Mathieu-Gleichung mit komplexem Parameter und komplexer Variablen transformiert.
