Abstract
The deflection method was used for hydrogen diffusion measurement with high purity zone melted (ZM) iron and with other kinds of less pure iron samples. The results confirmed the conclusion that there is a qualitative difference between ZM iron and less pure iron samples concerning the irreversible effects due to hydrogen. The behaviour of ZM iron was studied by the deflection method for different charging conditions and it was found that the results corresponded to those obtained by the permeation method.
