Abstract
This paper introduces a device for measurement of the modulation transfer function of photographic objectives based on the incoherent imaging of a harmonical (sinusoidal) grating of area type whose spatial frequency is varied continuously in space. Also, the theory of the realized method is shortly introduced, the principle of measurement is explained and some results of measurement are shown.

I wish to thank Dr. A.Mikš for designing the collimating objective and workers of The Institute of Physics of Czechoslovak Academy of Science in Prague for manufacturing that objective. I am also obliged to workers of The Development Laboratories of Palacký University in Olomouc for manufacturing substantial parts of the realized device.
