Conclusion
It follows our work that glasses based on cadmium and arsenic are derived from metastable system of solidification within the composition range CdAs2-CdAs4. The CdAs2 composition itself is interesting as it exists in three states: either as stable crystal or as metastably solidified mixture containing Cd3As2, CdAs2 and arsenic (in metastable equilibrium state), or as glass of the same composition (in metastable nonequilibrium state). All these three forms of CdAs2 can be prepared relatively easily, which is exceptional among the other glass systems.
