Proceeding from Maxwell-Minkowski Equations the induced voltage of an inductive flow meter is studied for conducting liquids in case of an inhomogeneous magnetic field and an arbitrary velocity profile. — It is shown: 1. In the most general case the induced voltage is not proportional to the flow. An expression for the calculation is derived. — 2. The mean value of the signal weighted by sin ψ
is proportional to the flow in case of a homogeneous magnetic field and arbitrary velocity profile as well as in case of an arbitrary plane inhomogeneous magnetic field and a velocity profile with axial symmetry.
