The researches on magnetically levitated transport systems with electrodynamic suspension (EDS-MAGLEV systems) are today of great interest. The paper describes an analytical three-dimensional method which allows the determination of the levitation, drag and lateral forces acting on EDS-MAGLEV systems with superconducting and/or conventional coils, whatever their number, disposition and sizes may be. The application of the method to experimental prototypes shows a good concordance with the experimental data.
