The paper describes a numerical method of calculating the transient electromagnetic field in magnetic circuits containing moving conducting parts. The procedure allows determining the field distribution if only the supply voltages are known. The equations of the converter's electro mechanical equilibrum have been taken into account. The procedure has been employed for an analysis of transient states in a fast-acting electromagnetic actuator.
