A method is presented for alleviating the severity of the metrazol convulsion by the intravenous use of beta-erythroidin hydrochloride.

Thirty-seven patients were given a total of 156 treatments with 139 resulting convulsions. No roentgenographic or clinical evidence of fractures was found.

Symptoms of beta-erythroidin hydrochloride overdosage were readily dissipated by the administration of prostigmin.

This method does not interfere with the usual results of metrazol convulsive therapy in the psychoses.
