Abstract

The expression of IgM-1a and IgM-1b (Cμ) allotypes on the surface of splenic and bursal cells of B14 line chickens was examined by the triple-layer immunfluorescence technique. We have demonstrated that all surface Ig+ cells in both spleen and bursa expressed sIgM-1 which was subject to allelic exclusion in M-la/M-lb heterozygous chickens. Furthermore, a phenotypic equilibrium in the proportion of cells carrying the products of the twoM-1 alleles was observed.
