Abstract
The cell wall morphology and the polypeptide composition of two different strains as well as of two spontaneous mutants ofDeinococcus radiodurans have been compared. The two strains differ with respect to the density of their carbohydrate coat. One of the mutants lacks the surface (HPI) layer; the other one is devoid of a carbohydrate coat.
