Abstract
The multiple scattering theory is applied to description of the process of incoherent diffractive excitation of nuclei in collisions with high energy protons. Variations of the diffractive cone slope with increasing mass of produced hadronic system and atomic number of target nucleus are discussed. The properties of mass-spectrum of final hadronic states are analized. Numerical estimates are compared with the recent data of HELIOS Collaboration.
