A derivation of the spin-spin potential on the lattice

  • Published:

Abstract

We present a simple non-formal derivation on the lattice of the relation of the spin-dependent potential of a heavy\(q - \bar q\) pair and the expectation value of Wilson loops. The derivation is performed via a hopping parameter expansion. It is evident from this derivation that an additional, overall renormalization factor is needed in the spin-dependent potential, before it can be used in the Schrödinger equation.
