Summary
This is a survey and empirical study of certain data relevant to the problem of suicide in persons on home leave from a psychiatric hospital. A sample of known suicides and non-suicides was collected and an 18-item checklist of characteristics possibly having relationship to suicide was applied. Through statistical study, five items were refined from the list and seem useful in the identification of high suicide risk in the psychiatric hospital home-leave population.
