Summary

  1. 1.

The theory of dream structure is discussed.

  2. 2.

There is noted a striking resemblance between the dreams of young children and feebleminded adults.

  3. 3.

Also, there is noted a dissimilarity between the dreams of adults of normal intelligence and those of subnormal intelligence, the former usually being more complex.

  4. 4.

From these considerations is suggested the use of dream analysis in diagnosing mental deficiency as well as differentiating actual from apparent mental enfeeblement (as in schizophrenia).
