On the existence of interacting perturbatively nonrenormalizable quantum field theories

Abstract

We study the effective potential of three perturbatively nonrenormalizable scalar field theories, (λ φ 4+g φ 6)3+,λ φ 44+1 andλ φ 45+1 , by nonperturbative methods. The requirements of existence, finiteness and interaction seem to demand such a weak nonrenormalizable interaction that no or little effects remain at the quantum level.
