In alcuni lavori precedenti è stata formulata la matrice di rigidezza tangente di un elemento strutturale ad asse rettilineo mostrandone anche le applicazioni all'analisi non lineare delle strutture intelaiate. Tale formulazione da luogo a forme indeterminate del tipo 0/0 nel caso limite di sforzo normale nullo che possono provocare seri problemi computazionali anche per piccoli valori dello sforzo normale. Scopo del presente lavoro è la formulazione di espressioni alternative, valide per piccoli valori dello sforzo normale, che permettono di superare gli inconvenienti suddetti.

Summary

A tangent stiffness matrix of a frame member has been formulated and used in previous papers for the nonlinear analysis of frameworks. However that formulation gives rise to indeterminate forms of the type 0/0 when the axial force in the member vanishes. The evaluation of the expressions in the limit and for vanishingly small values of the axial force is provided in the present paper.
