Abstract
The subject of this paper is to study the static infrared limit of the polarization tensor Πμν of the pureSU(N) Yang-Mills theory in the covariant gauge at high temperature. Calculations are done up to third order in the coupling constant by using a selfconsistent approximation to the Schwinger-Dyson equation. The limit of the component Π00 is found to be gauge-dependent, the third order correction being proportional to the gauge-parameter, while the limit of the spatial part Π ii is found to be exactly zero up to the third order for every value of the gaugeparameter. The relation of the results to the electric and magnetic screening is discussed.
