Comparative resistance to sedimentation of three different strains of sigma virus of drosophila

  • Published:
Archiv für die gesamte Virusforschung Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Summary

A temperature resistant and two different temperature sensitive strains of sigma virus were compared for their resistance to sedimentation in Ringer solution. One of the temperature sensitive strains undergoes a severe loss of infectivity, the second only a mild one; the temperature resistant strain is almost entirely recoverable. For both types of strains, the percentage of recovered infectiveness after sedimentation is improved if Ringer solution is replaced by 0.25 m saccharose.
