Summary

A number of group A Arboviruses can be propagated on mouse embryo cell cultures. It was observed that when these viruses are inoculated into tissue culture from mouse brain suspension the cytopathic effect occurred only in a few tubes in the higher dilutions. Some viruses did not produce any cytopathic effect in the first tissue culture passage. Upon further passages all viruses tested showed a typical cytopathic effect. The titres attained a value of approximately 10−6.
