Abstract
On the premise that shadowing and antishadowing in deep inelastic scattering in nuclei are partonic phenomena, we investigate theb-dependence of quark distributions in a nuclear environment. Utilising a model which gives a good global description both of deep inelastic scattering on nuclei and of Drell-Yan production in hadron nucleus collisions we show that there is a strongb-dependence of the structure functions. This is of considerable significance for understandingJ/Gy suppression relative to the Drell-Yan background in nucleus-nucleus collisions.
