Summary
The AA. studied the plasma levels of glucose, cholesterol and uric acid in 38 diabetic patients, in various states of decompensation, during a glucose afternoon test before and after phenformin administration. The changes in the response to glucose load are described. These observations, which will be discussed in a further paper, may afford important hints on the rational employ, the limits and the inconveniences of phenformin in treatment and prophylaxis of early chemical diabetes.
