Zusammenfassung

Die rasterelektronenmikroskopische Untersuchung von Poly(ethylenterephthalat)fäden nach einer Hydrolyse bei 160 °C in Wasserdampf wird gemacht. Nur auf den starken hydrolysierten PET-Fäden konnten wir Spalten finden. PET-Garne zerfallen in kleine Abschnitte quer zur Fädenachse, aber es handelt sich um kein physikalisch signifikantes Phänomen.

Summary

The cleavage of poly(ethylene terephthalate) fibres upon exposure to steam at 160 °C is examined by scanning electron microscopy. Fibre cleavage occurred only after very severe exposure, with cleavage predominantly across the fibre axis to give irregular lengths between scissions. The cleavage frequency related to handling rather than filament structure.
