Some characteristics of radiation vulcanization

  • Published:
The Soviet Journal of Atomic Energy Aims and scope

Abstract

We have investigated the radiation vulcanization of the following rubbers: natural rubber (NK). butadiene-styrene (SKS-30), butadiene (SKB-40) and nitrile (SKN-26). We established the dependence of the relative rate of formation of the spatial structure and of the tensile strength on the integral radiation dosage. We examined the question of the effect of certain ingredients of the rubber mixtureson the process of radiation vulcanization. We showed the peculiar role of carbon blacks and of the degree of their surface oxidation in the process.
