On the gelling of sodium metasilicate solutions

Summary

Experiments are described which suggest strongly that the gelling of sodium metasilicate solutions is dependent on foreign trace additives. Gelling can be inhibited by their removal, achieved by a simple process which has been called “gel gettering”.
