Summary
At low gradients the increase of coil dimensions in a good solvent reduces the gradient dependence of intrinsic viscosity, rises the minimum and yields a higher increase after the minimum. At high gradients the situation is reversed, the drop in relative intrinsic viscosity is increased. The effects are the more conspicuous the more statistically independent chain segments the molecule contains, i. e. the higher the degree of polymerisation.
