Summary

Morphological and histochemical features of acute erythroblastosis (Di Guglielmo's disease) are described together with laboratory findings. For the first time, atypical locomotion phenomena became apparent in the pathological erythroblasts by means of phase contrast microscopy. Furthermore the results support the hypothesis that the large reticulum cell (Rohr) represents the stem cell of erythropoisis. The fact that in Di Guglielmo's disease the pathological erythroblasts are generally present in the peripheral blood is explained by the newly detected locomotion ability of these cells. This ability enables them to pass through capillary- or sinus endothelia. The existence of alpha-naphthylacetate-esterase and PAS-positive substances in the erythroblasts, which is a characteristic feature in this disorder, most probably corresponds with the locomotion ability of these cells.

Zusammenfassung

Typische Laboratoriumsbefunde und morphologische sowie cytochemische Besonderheiten der akuten Erythroblastose (Morbus Di Guglielmo) werden aufgezeigt. Weiter wird erstmals anhand von Phasenkontrastuntersuchungen über atypische Bewegungsphänomene der pathologischen erythroblastischen Vorstufen berichtet.

Die Untersuchungen liefern erneute Beweise für die These, daß die große lymphoide Reticulumzelle nach Rohr der Erythropoese vorgeschaltet ist. Die bislang nicht bekannte Fortbewegungsfähigkeit der pathologischen Erythroblasten, die u. a. einen Durchtritt durch die Capillar- und Sinusendothelien, damit also das Vorkommen in der Peripherie erklärt, wird mit der speziellen Ausstattung an unspezifischer Esterase und PAS-positiven Substanzen in Zusammenhang gebracht.
