Summary
A report is given about the precipitinactivity anti-ST1 of aγG-paraprotein. The ST1-antigen is neither located on the low-density lipoproteins nor on the immunoglobulins. The ST1-antigen can be liberated by warmth inactivation of human serum and some animal sera. The ST1-reactivity is eliminated by warming the paraprotein serum up to 56°C. The frequency of the positive reacting sera, under optimal conditions, is 88%. The question is discussed whether the paraprotein indicates a group specific property or whether it reacts with an antigen which, under certain conditions, cannot appear in the serum of the patient. Mention is made of the resemblance in thermal reaction behaviour with the cold agglutinins which also are paraproteins.
