Summary
Under combined treatment with methylmercaptoimidazole and iodide, T/2 of total and free serum thyroxine (5.7. and 3.4 days) in 11 patients with severe, decompensated, diffuse thyrotoxicosis were considerably less than with MMI-therapy alone (9.3. and 6.8. days). A close linear correlation was observed between starting levels of thyroxine and time to reach normal T4 values; thus, estimates with regard to minimum time requirement of MMI-iodidetherapy are made possible.
