Summary
In 26 patients with chronic glomerular, tubular and global renal insufficiency reduced the glutathione content in the erythrocytes was determined by a new specific paper chromatographic technique. 38% of the values were in the normal range, the remaining slightly or markedly elevated. Incubation with acetylphenylhydrazine did not show any GSH-instability. There is no definite correlation between the extent of anemia, azotemia, reticulocyte count and GSH-concentration.
