Extraction properties of diisoamyl methylphosphinite

Abstract

The properties of one of the new, efficient extractants for uranium, diisoamyl methylphosphinate (DAMP), are described. It was shown that uranyl nitrate is extracted from nitric acid solutions by this extractant with considerably higher distribution coefficients than tributyl phosphate (TBP). The extraction of uranyl nitrate and HNO3 with DAMP solutions in hydrogenated kerosene was studied. It was shown that uranyl nitrate is extracted in the form of the complex [UO2(NO3)2 (DAMP)2], whose stability constant equals 2540±200, and HNO3 is extracted in the form of the compound HNO3 DAMP, whose stability constant is 0.30±0.03.
